OpenRail Designer CONNECT Edition

Clearance Point

You can access this dialog from the following:

Ribbon: OpenRail Modeling > Rail > Miscellaneous > Clearance Point

The Place Clearance Point tool will place a point object between two rail geometries, where the offset value for both rail geometries is fulfilled. Primary track is the first selected track. The option Use Inside Rail Geometry will measure the offset from closest rail instead of the centerline. To use this option, Rails need to be created.

Elevation of the 3D model, representing the Clearance Point, is defined by elevation of the Primary Reference Line.

Select first (Primary) and second (Secondary) rail geometries (alternatively, the turnout can be selected). A dotted line is temporarily draw by the offset value. Intersection point of the dotted lines is the Clearance Point position.

A point object, defined by selected Feature Definition, is placed with Offset-Offset rule.

Workflow

Select the Clearance Point tool.

Select Use Inside Rail Geometry option if the offset should be measure from closest rail.

Key in offset values.

Select a Feature Definition and key-in a Feature Name (or leave it to generate a Feature Name).

Select Primary and Secondary rail geometries, or the turnout.

Accept the clearance point position.
